SolarAttic's SAVC-02 Electronic Control
"Makes All Attic Fans Smart!"

Description

SolarAttic's SAVC-02 electronic control is used to automate attic ventilation. It takes the guess work out of proper attic ventilation when combined with SolarAttic's new Ridge Ventilator. Together, SolarAttic's technology eliminates the need for roof vents of all types. It eliminates ice dams from forming by equalizing the internal attic temperature to that of the outside ambient temperature. Without a temperature difference across the roof, it is impossible to form ice dams during the winter. A new solid state temperature and humidity sensor comes with the SAVC-02 and is placed at the peak of the attic. Simply plug it into the side of the SAVC-02. There are no complicated controls to operate or settings to set. Simply plug the SAVC-02 into 115 vac power and then plug the Ridge Ventilator or attic fan into it. Everything is fully automatic. A manual-on feature allows the electronic sensor to be bypassed for testing purposes or for extreme weather conditions. Welcome to SolarAttic's "Systems Approach To Attic Ventilation."

Makes Existing Attic Fans Smart

The SAVC-02 has been designed to work with all existing 115 vac attic fans. It can power up to 10 amps of standard 115 vac attic fans. Larger amounts of fan currents and even 220 vac fans can be powered by using relays to amplify the power output of the control. See your electrician for large current handling needs.

Automatic Operation

The SAVC-02 electronic control senses both humidity and temperature. When the attic peak temperature (where the sensor is positioned) drops to 28° F the first time, the control senses and locks in the winter condition. It then activates ventilation based upon excess humidity anytime the attic's peak temperature is below 28° F. Venting the attic then occurs whenever the humidity exceeds 35% Rh (adjustable).  It continues as along as humidity continues to decline and attic temperature remains below 28° F.  Venting stops if humidity starts to increase below 28° F.  Above 28° F, the attic is vented steadily until it reaches 60° F. This is the temperature range in which "thawing" occurs and ice dams are formed.  By venting the attic at this time, the internal attic temperature is equalized to the outside ambient temperature.  This eliminates ice-dams by eliminating the temperature difference that forms them.  Above 60° F, ventilation only occurs in the summer when the attic temperature exceeds 105° F.
